Quality cleaning of stone coatings and the optimal method for its implementation depends on several factors.
- stone type: The type of the stone is really important /limestone, mushelcalc, sandstone, marble, etc./, its hardness, porosity, and type of processing /sanded, rough, etc./
- pollution type: The type of the pollution should be specified and also to what extent it has penetrated into the surface of the stone. Mostly these are flakes of soot from the passing-by cars and industry, rust and mud from streets, borders, and air-conditioners, spots from absorbed moisture by the stone, white spots from eduction of salts and sulphates, mould and mosses, as well as the results from the city subculture – graffiti.
- Accessibility and location: The possibilities for accessibility to the areas for cleaning are to be specified. The methods we apply are: falsework work, hydraulic platforms and lifting devices, towers, as well as of course rope work.
After the facade has been cleaned through sand blasting or a thermal-chemical method, the mud is eliminated in depth and the surface is absolutely clean. When the time passes, dust, flakes of soot from the cars and other pollutions accumulate as well as in snow and rain, thus the mud penetrating inside the stone and making it necessary for a second abrader cleaning.
the effect can easily be avoided with the laying of a suitable impregnant that prevents the stone from absorption of pollutions and at the same time enables the surface to “breathe”. The rain washes away a part of the subsequently accumulated mud thus making the period between the two cleanings longer that do no longer need abrader blasting, but hydro or vapour blasting.

The products we use, have been chosen from thorough tests on real walls in Bulgarian conditions with products from every possible graffiti cleaning products supplier we found. The end result is that quality and price affordable graffiti removal is possible, nevertheless with the right technology.
Generally speaking the "hard" jobs are: graffiti removal from stones, brick, concrete and other porous, as well as cleaning from very delicate surfaces. For the most other cases (most of plastics, doors and windows, coated metals like etalbond, most of the coated or painted non-porous surfaces, metals etc) is possible even cleaning from non-professionals, of course after consultation and test on a small hidden area.
It is important to notice that cleaning attemps from non-qualified and/or not quality products usualy make the situation worse. Some of the graffiti is cleaned, but the remaining shadow soaks so deeply inside, that removing it is a reall tough job, even for us.
The Best, what can be done to a new/repaired/cleaned facade, is the immediately application of pforessional coating.
Although at first glance may not seems so, there are huge differences between the coatings. The major two characteristics, that make an antigraffiti product a quality one, are as follows:
- permeability - the "breathing" is crucial for the sealing impact on the coated stone. The change of temperature, moisture and rain leads to surface destruction, even more than compared to non-sealed stone. The presense of moisture stains and the whitening from the salts makes also a bad outlook.
- resistance - mostly to graffiti, and this means resistanse to hard solvents and strong bases. The quality coating does not have to be reapplied after every cleaning, which becomes with time a seriously financial load. Weather resistance is also important, or the sealing will be flaked to rags in the early spring.
